The Hyundai Palisade is a handsome seven or eight passenger SUV new to the Korean automaker’s ever-expanding showroom. Sporting the brand’s trademark large grille, the Palisade makes a statement on and off road with high shoulders, a wide track, and square, clean lines. Judicious use of chrome and detailed head and tail lamps creates an elegant and expressive crossover.

Inside, the Palisade is just as appealing, with the upscale Limited featuring quilted leather, matte chrome, soft touches and warm textures. Interacting with the Palisade through the 10.25" touchscreen is blessedly simple, including a cool built-in intercom to easily talk with the third row, which is large enough for a pair of six-footers to fit comfortably.

The 3.8L 6-cylinder engine powers the Palisade with a smooth-shifting 8-speed automatic transmission. Five distinct drive modes and a 5,000 pound towing capacity enhance the experience. Paddle shifters engage the transmission particularly when downshifting, and torque vectoring AWD plus a locking differential provides surefooted traction in snow or gravel.

Hyundai SmartSense safety is standard on all trims. The well-equipped Base SE is $31,550. The $33,500 SEL plus $2,200 convenience and $2,400 premium packages is worth the upgrade. The 7-seat $44,700 Limited slathers on the goodies.
